Welcome to
Where Art and Nature Meet
Rice Lake Arts is a creative learning space where we offer visual art workshops and other cultural events, featuring local and regional artists and artisans.
All our workshops invite participants to draw inspiration from nature as they explore their creativity in wood, stone, textiles, and other media.
Our beautiful 5 acre grounds, charming farmhouse and recently updated barn space are available for events, retreats and weekends away.
We look forward to sharing our little slice of heaven in the rolling hills of Peterborough County with you, your family and friends.
Workshops 2024 – Where Art and Nature Meet
We offer workshops in a wide range of media and approaches. What they all have in common are accomplished instructors who love to teach, small class sizes to provide individual support and guidance, a relaxed, joyful approach to learning and a deep connection to the natural world.
Enrolling in an art workshop is a great way to reconnect with your creative, imaginative, playful self – a brief time away from the busy world we all inhabit.
Stone & Wood Carving
Stone & Wood Carving
These direct carving workshops will build on your skills and ideas; it is our goal to provide a creative experience that is dynamic, supported and enjoyable.
Rice Lake Arts is excited to continue a long tradition of direct stone carving workshops in our lovely outdoor space. No tools or experience required – just curiosity, a pair of goggles and lots of water.

Participants in these workshops will be encouraged to explore new techniques and draw inspiration from the colour, texture, light, forms, sounds and big sky vistas that surround Rice Lake Arts.
Learn drawing, painting, mixed-media, paper & bookmaking with local and guest artists from across Canada. A desire to expand your approach to making art is a must; advanced drawing skills are not required!
Fibre Arts
Fibre Arts
We approach fibre arts as joyful, low pressure and accessible. Our instructors will encourage you to try new techniques and explore our grounds for inspiration and natural materials for use in your projects.
Our workshops include hand & machine sewing and quilting, natural dyeing, cyanotype printing on fabric, basket weaving and mixed media approaches to needlework. Whether you are a seasoned crafter or a novice, you will be inspired by our joyous approach to learning traditional practices with a modern aesthetic.
